This evening Opera by Request performed Gounod's FAUST. The chorus was the UofT Scarboro Campus Choir, they were fabulous! I love the concerts etc... which are hosted in Oshawa/Whitby. Last night, I went to hear the Oshawa Durham Symphonic Orchestra. Controversy aside, great performance. They performed Don Quixote by Strauss and Beethoven's 7th symphony. (The 2nd movement, brings me right back to music dictation exams at McGill...hmmm?) No pictures as of yet... I will try to add some later.

Me voici!!! J'aime bien les couleurs d'automne. We had a great thanksgiving day. We enjoyed Pingles pumpkin patch as well as the yearly trip through the maze... shaped like a Buick. Then we had lasagna, one vegetarian and the other vegan... and pie... can't enjoy family time without pie. Thanks Laurie for spending the day with us!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Ce matin... Je me suis reveillee a 10 hrs. J'en avait surement besoin. Le petit dejeuner de cretons végétariens et pain de seigle...mmmm. Un dimanche parfait! Les fourberies...c'est fini pour l'instant. Maintenant je me lance dans mes répétitions de Faust par Gounod. C'est tout un changement! Peut-etre la perruque serait jolie sur scene? Le 8 octobre, nous sommes chez Nice Bistro. C'est un bistro tres chouette! Si vous n'y avez jamais ete venez nous voir. L'info est sur la page officielle de mon site. LE MÉTROPOLITAIN - News La troupe de théâtre communautaire de Toronto n’a pas fini de faire parler d’elle September 24 2008 by Jean-V. Tassé-Themens Grâce à la relève fort prometteuse qui est montée sur les planches du Collège Glendon les 20 et 21 septembre derniers, le théâtre communautaire francophone pourrait être assuré de connaître une longue vie dans la capitale ontarienne. En effet, la première représentation de la saison de la troupe Les Fous de T.O. a connu un franc succès. Écrite par Arianne Matte et mise en scène par Guy Marsan, la pièce Les fourberies de Molière ou Le Molière imaginaire pouvait également compter sur des « valeurs sûres » telles que Denyse Dufour (Nérine) et Luc Bouchard (Gorgibus) qui ont une longue feuille de route en théâtre communautaire. Fidèles à eux-mêmes, ils ont offert une prestation époustouflante digne des plus grands théâtres. Leurs solos étaient particulièrement réussis. De plus, deux jeunes comédiennes ont également retenu l’attention. En effet

Merci au Metropolitain!!!! LE MÉTROPOLITAIN - News Mélanie E., une artiste prometteuse qui fait « jazzer » September 3 2008 by Jean-V. Tassé-Themens À première vue, le titre de l’album Le jazz à la française volume 1 peut paraître ordinaire. Cependant, c’est tout le contraire. Il s’agit d’un précieux moment de douceur pour les oreilles. Lancée en juin 2007, la plus récente compilation de la chanteuse Mélanie E. amène les auditeurs à rythmer sur un air endiablé et comble du bonheur, c’est en français. Au total, elle compte dix pièces dont une composition de la chanteuse et musicienne. Parmi les autres titres, il y a la célèbre chanson Frédéric de Claude Léveillé ainsi que le Tout le monde est malheureux du grand de la chanson québécoise, Gilles Vigneault. Elle y chante également une composition originale, Réalise. Mélanie E. est accompagnée par cinq musiciens. Ils jouent du piano, de la flûte, du saxophone, du marimba, de la basse et de la batterie. Cet heureux mélange permet à l’album

Pour une deuxième année, les membres du club Jeunesse d’Hier se sont joints à ceux du Club canadien-français d’Oshawa (CCFO) afin de souligner la fête des Acadiens. Les célébrations ont eu lieu le samedi 23 août à L’Amicale. Pour l’occasion, certains portaient un t-shirt arborant le drapeau acadien, d’autres étaient vêtues des couleurs bleu, blanc, rouge et jaune à l’effigie de leur drapeau, mais tous avaient le cœur àla fête. « C’est la seconde fois que nous avons notre pique-nique à L’Amicale, raconte Marcel Soucy, président de Jeunesse d’Hier. C’est plus pratique qu’au parc Lakeview où il fallait réserver et payer pour l’espace. Ici, le stationnement est plus près, c’est plus tranquille et, plus important encore, nous sommes chez nous. » Pendant l’après-midi, les aînés en ont profité pour socialiser et jouer quelques parties de bingo dont les numéros étaient habilement appelés par M. WOW! What a week. Back to working on something other than weddings. Not a complaint, just looking forward to doing some different stuff too. Les Fourberies de Moliere with Les Fous de TO, is really coming together. As a newcomer in the world of theatre, I love it!!! These people are so much fun. I look forward to every rehearsal. We will be performing on Sept 19, 20,21 at the Glendon Theatre. Info to follow. This week is our El Mocambo debut. Working the set list was a little challenging. I want to feature everyone yet stay original to what we enjoy doing. Should be a great evening! (for a good cause) Also... Le METROPOLITAIN has mentioned Melanie E. for two consecutive weeks. I am attaching them to this BLOG. Why not! Ok..it's too big. How about an entry for each? Check it out! Now I am looking for new titles of songs that we don't have in our repertoire yet... Can't say I really know what I am counting down.. however every year on my birthday, I feel as though I am getting closer to something, I am achieving a new level of my life. I actually look forward to moving ahead. Then after a horrible week at work, I start to wonder maybe I am running away from the past which is not quite far enough behind to be forgotten... Looking ahead to the next couple of weeks... I think I will enjoy the sun, the changing leaves and the cool breeze. Ciao Ciao

After fighting a cold the last week, I feel pretty good today. Hopefully this is not a false sense of security. Evertything seems to be in place! We have some originals to put on this one, but they aren't quite ready yet, so we will go back to the studio after this settles and record the final songs. I am always looking for new song ideas.... I almost forgot, I have pictures from our last day in rehearsal... need to figure out where those went.... stay tuned! CIAO

We had a great time performing at Nice Bistro last week. Wonder if I can post some of the pictures from that show on this blog... It has been a very busy week in general and now were launching into cd mode. This month, I hope to get the cd cover completed. And then next month, we'll be in the studio laying down the tracks. We've invited some friends to come to the studio to play some percussion instruments. Beef up those rhythms.... Well, today is Sunday... off to see some friends.

What a great Saturday night. We had a great rehearsal in preparation for cd II. Latin, Caribean feel with lots of words...and words... and more words! I've been working on jazz 'improvisation' and trying to find my own style. Not as easy as I thought it would be. Keith has been very helpful, sitting next to me and trying to make my improv as busy as possible. Can't believe he gets all those notes in on the tuba and more. In 30 min, I will have completed the final Harry Potter book. Must get reading. Bonne Nuit!

I am very excited to have received the portrait which Toronto artist Lindsay Erdman did entitled Melanie E. The use of colours is refreshing and alive. Thanks Lindsay! Rang in 2008 10 days ago, and I'm just beginning to get a glimpse of the things I would like to accomplish in 2008. CD II is definitely at the top of the list, and currently in the works. I am going to continue working at the Peace Camp in Calgary, a camp filled with people and ideas very close to my heart. And lastly, quiet time.... a visit inside to see whatis in hiding. I wish everyone a fabulous 2008!
